The Waiting

cloud-and-rain

The Waiting

How can I smile
When I know of a tear
That will rest on my cheek
In an oncoming year

How can I laugh
When I know there is sorrow
That sits on my doorstep
And waits for tomorrow

How can I love
When I know that someday
The arms of time
Will take it away

How can I stand
When someday I’ll fall…
It’s the waiting of it all

  1. This posting, especially the first verse, is exactly how I feel when I think about the children caught in the many conflicts around the world. It voices the sadness I feel. It was comforting to read it and to know I am not alone. Thank you!
