“The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18, CSB)
Sometimes it can feel as if we are alone in our struggles. We feel isolated; like we don’t have anyone we can talk to about the issues we are facing. Maybe we think people won’t understand, or we fear rejection once revealing what we see as our weaknesses. What can we do when we are feeling this way? The first thing we can do is realize that we are never alone. God says that He is near to the brokenhearted and the crushed in spirit. You can believe this because He says it is so. The next thing we can do is talk to God about whatever we are dealing with. Do not hold back or be afraid that you need to edit your thoughts, speech, or prayers. God is not surprised by anything. Nothing you say will shock Him. Another thing we can do is journal about what we are going through. It can be helpful to write down our feelings and there are even diary apps that you can lock with a secret code. With a diary app on your phone, you can write on the go…whenever you feel the need to express what’s going on inside of you. Also, remember that there is a community of people who most likely share similar fears, discouragements, doubts, and pain. In that sense, you are not alone either. But the most important thing to keep in mind is that God is real and that He hears and sees you.
“Those who look to Him are radiant with joy; their faces will never be ashamed.” (Psalm 34:5, CSB)
